Guitar Lessons Los Angeles
Why not study from the best guitar teachers in Los Angeles?
Red Pelican guitar teachers have music degrees from top conservatories and universities. In addition, they are working professionals who play in rock bands, orchestras, and compose music for film and video games.
Do you remember that strict, humorless guitar teacher you had as a kid? We didn’t hire him. Our teachers tend to be young and cool…if not in age, at heart. While our approach is modern, it is also comprehensive.
A typical guitar lesson will involve three things: technique, traditional studies, and a song project – often coming right off the student’s iPod
Guitar Teachers
Scott
Scott’s specialties include rock, progressive metal and classical guitar. He enjoys teaching students of all ages on both conventional 6-string, and 7-string instruments. Scott’s gentle and organized style works equally well with complete beginners, or folks working on advanced theory concepts or metal techniques (sweep picking arpeggios, etc).
Scott’s approach is to zero in on a student’s musical goals, and then guide them through the songs and applied theory necessary to actualize the student’s full potential. Scott draws inspiration from a wide range of influences, including, Guthrie Govan, John Petrucci, Michael Romeo, Gus G, and Kiko Loureiro.
When not teaching, Scott enjoys performing with rock bands, doing classical guitar gigs, and writing orchestral music. Scott graduated from A.P.U. with a degree in guitar performance and classical composition.
In addition to studio and in-home lessons, Scott also offer guitar lessons via webcam (Skype).
*A bit of trivia: Scott is completely mortified of sharks, even the toy-variety one finds in a swimming pool.
What students are saying about guitar lessons with Scott:
“Scott is a great teacher . . . He makes complex material seem simple and easy to understand. Every lesson I saw growth in my playing!”
- Felix P.
“Scott was my music instructor from the time I was in eighth grade, all the way through high school, and I am now pursuing a music degree in college. Scott emphasized the importance of being a versatile player and exposed me to many different styles of music from rock to jazz to classical. One of the most valuable things he gave me is a strong grounding in music theory, which gave me a new perspective on playing guitar, and gave me a head start on college music classes. Scott has had a tremendous impact on me as a musician.”
-Ruben S.

Adam
Adam hails from the Pelican State. While the coincidence is fun, rest assured, we hired him for his ridiculous musical chops and easy laid-back teaching style. A multi-instrumentalist, Adam teaches guitar, banjo and dobro, and is equally adept with rock, country, jazz and bluegrass styles.
Adam graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor’s Degree in music, also earning a degree in guitar performance from Hollywood’s Musicians Institute.
As a performer, Adam has toured with Rose’s Pawn Shop, and Jason Charles Miller, recently opening for country star, Gary Allan.
Adam’s favorite guitarists include Brent Mason, Tony Rice, Brian May, and John Scofield, an eclectic mix, befitting his diversity of stylistic interests. Adam’s banjo favorites include Scott Vestal, J.D. Crowe, Earl Scruggs, Bela Fleck, and Alison Brown; his dobro inspirations are Rob Ickes and Jerry Douglas.
Adam teaches: Guitar Lessons, Banjo Lessons and Dobro Lessons
*Adam was a national merit scholar, and attributes this achievement to his diet of tomato and mayo sandwiches.

“Received a one hour guitar lesson from Red Pelican as a gift. Best gift ever. Spoke with Brian to set everything up. Brian was amazing, and just the nicest guy ever. . . .Based on my musical tastes and goals, he recommended one of his instructors, Hubie, for my session. Hubie was PERFECT for me. He was very knowledgeable and patient. Within that hour he was able to cover a lot of the basics. He helped give me the starter foundation that I’ve been looking for. Thank you Brian and Hubie! What Red Pelican Music customers are saying about guitar lessons with Joe:
“Miraculous results and fun. As an older guitar student who had given up playing, I know what I’m talking about. I’ve taken lessons all my life, but never felt I was able to “play” the guitar – until Red Pelican’s Joe. His skill and knowledge are infectious. . . He has brought me to a new level of comfort and proficiency that has been lacking in all my guitar lessons, from all my teachers, for all these years. My aural skills are finally developing at a terrific rate, as is my ability to let go of my fear of making mistakes. I just have fun – playing. He’s even taught me how to make my mistakes work! . . . The time flies by, and I’ve “learned” so much I am amazed, in each and every lesson.”
