Ulf
Ulf Anneken was born in Frankfurt Germany and raised in the countryside south of Frankfurt. Raised by a family with a long tradition of practicing medicine, he found himself interested in music at an early age, taking piano lessons and pursuing his passion all the way to Boston, Massachusetts, where he graduated from the Berklee College of Music with a degree in Contemporary Writing and Production. He soon moved to Los Angeles, where the Henry Mancini Institute connected him to UCLA, and he worked from 2008 until 2014 as an accompanist for the Herb Alpert School of Music. Since then, he has worked as a freelance composer, pianist and teacher in Los Angeles. He likes to play Bach in the morning and Jazz at night and loves to start his day with coffee, a chocolate croissant and a good philosophy book. In 2024 Ulf won the First Prize of the 8th Annual Christmas Songwriting Competition with his song “All I Need for Christmas Is You” (co written by Benjamin Davis and Nitanee Paris) and this year his musical Living The Dream has won the Musical Writers Pitch Night competition which has led to a staged reading in April 2025.
